One of the most famous Wajima lacquerware manufacturers in recent years, Wajima Kirimoto, has successfully expanded their family business that has continued for over 150 years. Originally, Kirimoto specialized in wood work, created complex curved wooden core for various Wajima lacquerwares. Using mainly Japanese bigleaf magnolia that many grow in the nearby mountains of the Noto Peninsula has good characteristics of hardness, stiffness and ease of fabrication with durability against water. They now produce complete lacquerware in a genuine Wajima process with their specialty of the wood work expressing the superiority.
