Our Japanese Lacquerware, the Quality with pride
Our lacquerware is all handmade in Japan. Every piece uses natural wood or linen and natural urushi lacquer with the traditional methodology of making lacquerware that the Japanese have been following for more than 900 years. Recently, the use of real traditional lacquerware is decreasing in the Japanese market due to an increase in cheaper plastic lacquerware-like items. The look of the plastic lacquerware-like items is very well made that it would be difficult for ordinary people to judge whether the item is plastic or real lacquerware just by taking a glance.
However, there is a fundamental difference in the characteristics of tableware. Traditional lacquerware with a natural wooden core is lighter in weight and has less heat conductivity than plastic ones, which makes it more usable in daily life. Natural urushi lacquer coating has a strong antibacterial effect and of course resistant to hot water and alkaline or acid.
Natural lacquerware using 100% natural wood is not resistant to microwaves. However, in the market there are also wood power-plastic hybrid core with natural urushi lacquer coating lacquerware that enable the use of microwaves. We do not carry those non-natural items.
Having all said, the real difference goes down to the quality of your everyday life. Please experience the difference with the use of the very fine lacquerware that is made by skilled hands with the pride to provide the lacquerware that our ancestors have used for hundreds of years. We are certain, that you will see what is all about.
