Wajima-nuri 輪島塗
Wajima-nuri (輪島塗) — designated by the Japanese Government as an Important Intangible Cultural Property since 1977, and among the most exacting lacquerware traditions in Japan.
We believe that "Wajima-nuri" in the world of Japanese lacquerware is like "Meissen" in the world of porcelain.
Competitiveness of the Wajima lacquerware "Wajima-nuri(輪島塗)" from the quality standpoint is that it is the most durable and made-to-be-repaired lacquerware with highly skilled, beautiful "maki-e(蒔絵)" decorations.
The outstanding durability and quality are historically proven and surpass others by far, resulting from the manufacturing process of 124 steps, being the most complex in Japanese lacquerware.
Kogei Styling is proud to present Wajimaya Zen-ni(輪島屋善仁)and Wajima Kirimoto(輪島キリモト)since they are two of the most prestigious and highly regarded manufacturers of Wajima-nuri in Wajima.
